Target Audience:
Those considering the Information Technology Associate and/or the Information Technology Specialist I/II classifications as their career path. Or those in the aforementioned classifications who would like to strengthen their skill sets.
The Information Systems Development in Government (ISDG) program was designed to enhance the skill sets in the Software Engineering domain in relation to the Information Technology classification series.
The eight day ISDG program consists of the following classes:
– Digital Innovation & Business Process Reengineering: Understanding your Needs (2 days)
– System Development Methodologies: Understanding the Systems Development Lifecylce (SDLC) and the Agile Models (1 day)
– The Concept Phase: Planning your Information Technology (IT) Project (2 days)
– Solution Design: Designing the User Experience (UX), the Application and the Database Layers (2 days)
– Solution Implementation & Testing: Building and Testing your Software (1 day)

Digital Innovation & Business Process Reengineering (2 days):
This course explains the need for Digital Innovation in the public sector. Practices the Business Process Management Life-cycle to improve organization performance. Performs Value-Analysis and applies Business Process Reengineering (BPR) principles in business processes. Describes the classification of requirements and explains the difference between functional and non-functional solution requirements. Explains how to properly document all requirements using California standards. Applies both structured and graphical techniques to modeling requirements. Applies Unified Modeling Language (UML) techniques to eliciting requirements. Explains the purpose of the requirements review process.
System Development Methodologies: Understanding the Systems Development Lifecylce (SDLC) and the Agile Models (1 day)

The Concept Phase: Planning your Information Technology (IT) Project (2 days)
This course explains how to start a new IT project. Prepares for the adoption of PLAN-IT (project planning and approval). Describes the role of the Project Approval Lifecycle (PAL) framework. Explains the relationship between PAL, the State Administrative Manual (SAM) policy, the Statewide Information Management Manual (SIMM) guidelines, & the California Project Management Framework (CA-PMF). Assists in understanding how to complete Stage 1 Business Analysis (S1BA) of PAL. Reviews IT project documentation from State projects. Utilizes California Department of Technology (CDT) project delivery resources.

This course describes the most common software architecture styles and patterns. Explains the processes of designing the Business Logic Layer (BLL) of the software solution, designing the User Experience
